Racial Trauma Support Group

This 13-week group is strictly for BIPOC individuals (Black, Indigenous, People of Color) who have experienced racial trauma from a multicultural lens. The goal of the group is to provide support, validation, community, trauma processing, advocacy, healing, and coping mechanisms for navigating a white supremacist society. Throughout the 13 weeks, participants will be provided a safe and supportive environment to process their experiences and feelings. The use of relaxation techniques, mindfulness exercises, and other self-care strategies will be incorporated throughout the sessions. Resources will also be provided to participants, including books, articles, and organizations that focus on racial trauma, healing, and activism to support each individual’s work in the group. Additionally, the curriculum for this group will be culturally sensitive and respectful, while centering a diversity of perspectives.

This group will be capped at 12 people and will meet once per week for two hours.

Emotions 101

We will provide a group focused on exploring emotions that will last for twelve weeks. We will explore the way emotions express themselves in our bodies. We will work on identifying our coping strategies around emotions and stress, looking at what is healthy versus unhealthy coping. We will also explore cultural conceptualizations and stereotypes around emotion and how it impedes our relationship with our emotional selves.

This group has a limit of 10 people.

Support Group for Men

We are operating a Men’s Group for ten weeks that is therapeutically oriented. It is about exploring being more self-aware and expressive. Testosterone tends to make men feel more isolated in their emotional experience. This can also be attributed to how men are also raised in society. We explore vulnerability and whether it truly is a weakness. Being able to be open about fear, powerlessness, frustrations, guilt, shame, hopes and desire can be freeing. Group work can provide additional energy in daily life, a safe practice space for expanding interpersonal skills, and provide a sense of belonging and closeness that can reduce isolation, depression, and feelings of loss of control.

The group has a limit of 10 people.
